OUR POLICIESDear customers: please take time to familarize yourself with our policies to avoid misunderstandings latter on!
Check List for preparing for the puppy:
#1 Dog Food. We are currently feeding the 4 Health Puppy formula. This puppy food has no corn , wheat or soy in it. Real Lamb is the #1 Ingredient. And let me tell you, our puppies love this food and thrive on it! We would like for you to keep your puppy on this food until the puppy has made the transition and you can gradually change to the dog food of your preference.
#2. Food and Water bowls. You've got to have something to serve your puppy his supper in, and a way to keep him hydrated.
#3 Collar and ID tag- Your dog is in a new neighborhood. If he gets lost, an ID tag will up the chances of your pet being returned to you.
#4 Leash- this is a necessity for walks around the neighborhood, and leash training. It's important to start setting the house rules promptly and this includes the leash training. This being said, we caution against taking your puppy into an environment where there have been other dogs outside of your home until he has had his full sets of shots.
#5 Dog crate- It's ideal for crate training and to give your dog a space to call his own. You want it to be large enough to give him sufficient space to move around and yet not so large that he will want to use a corner for bathroom breaks before he is full potty trained.
#6 Dog bed- A cozy dog bed should help your new dog feel comfortable in his new home.
#9 Toys- Provide your dog with mental and physical exercise with different typs of dog toys.
#10 Grooming Products- Get some dog shampoo and nail trimmers and a brush to get your puppy used to being groomed from the start.
#11 Potty Pads- These are essential for housetraining.
#12 Stain and odor remover- You'll need this to help clean up pet messes while potty training your puppy.
Question and answer time with Southland Puppies:
Q. Has the puppy been vaccinated and will I recieve records of the vaccination?
A. Yes, your puppy has had it's first sets of vaccinations and you will recieve the records to take to your vet.
Q. How soon should we take our puppy to the vet?
A. We like if you can take your puppy to the vet within 3 days of purchasing. This way you can get him on a schedule immediately for finishing the vaccinations and get him on a deworming program.
Q. What additional nutritional supplements do you recommend?
A. We highly recommend the NuVet Supplement. This is important for the healthy development of your puppy especially during the first two years.
Here is the Phone number for ordering this NuVet Supplement (800)474-7044. Or online www.nuvet.com using the code 21827.
Q. If I've put a deposit down on a litter that is not yet posted individually, when do I get to choose my puppy?
A. You will get to chooose at around 4-5 weeks. Either you can come choose in person, or if that is not suitable for you , we will make sure you get pictures to choose from, and we can help with the choosing process if you can not be here in person.
Q. Where are you located?
A. We are located in Itasca Texas.
Q. Do we get to come to your place to pick the puppy up?
A. We live on a dirt/gravel road and during the rainy season the roads can be a bit rough, and google has a bit of a time picking up our address. Just a price we pay for the joys of living out in the country! And so we do have the option of meeting at the gas station off the Interstate if the situation is such that you would rather do that. We usually give you the option to either come here to our place or we meet you at the gas station unless we decide the roads are too bad.
Q. What do we need to bring along for picking the puppy up?
A. Make sure you bring paper towels along in case of a puppy mess on the way home, and a crate unless you plan to hold the puppy.
Q. What form of payment do you accept?
We accept PayPal for a deposit if we are holding the puppy for you. But the final balance needs to be in cash.
